Sadly time is running out for the East Finchley Advice Service as reported on the front page of the Archer this month (No 215 – Sept 2011).
EFAS who recently moved to the Green Man Community Centre in January have now informed the Centre Manager Mark Healey that barring a miracle they will have to close down their service to the public on the 28th September.
Barnet Council withdrew core funding as part of its general budget cuts last December.
Mark said “It is a sad loss for East Finchley, as EFAS have been a valued part of the community for many years and have helped thousands of local residents though difficult times. It is a shame that we can’t do something to raise the funds required to keep this vital service going. Since EFAS moved to the Green Man I have seen so many people using EFAS, including a lot of residents from the Strawberry Vale estate. It seems to me that the loss of EFAS will hit hard those who need its support the most.”
