Centre Manager organises Hate Crime Vigil

Peabody added a post to their website yesterday about the Centre Manager Mark Healey who is organising a Vigil against Hate Crime in Trafalgar Square Friday 28th October 2011 7.30pm to 9pm.

Mark commented “I am really pleased to see the article on the Peabody website as it will help raise awareness of the important work that I am doing with 17-240-30. The organisation was set up in April 2009 to mark the 10th anniversary of the London Nail Bomb attacks on Brixton, Brick Lane and Soho. After Ian Baynham was homophobically abused and beaten in Trafalgar Square (later dying of his injuries) we have organised the Vigil against Hate Crime to help people state that hate crime is not acceptable in our communities. The vigil is about taking a moment to remember all the victims of hate crime and to show our support to those who have been affected by these acts of hate. Hopefully working together we can make a difference, and help make our communities more tolerant safer places for everyone.”

If people would like to get involved, or volunteer to help out on the night please feel welcome to get in touch with Mark at the Green Man Community Centre. Mark’s contact number is 020 8815 0703.
