Opportunities Fair goes ahead this Friday 10th Feb

Plans for this year’s Opportunities Fair at the Green Man Community Centre on Strawberry Vale Road are rapidly taking shape.

So far approximately 23 local organisations have registered to have stalls at the event, and there is still some space for a few more. Those interested should contact the Centre Manager, Mark Healey 02088150703 by 5pm Wednesday 8th Feb.

The event will include a petition table, for local campaigns including; Save the Old Barn, The Stanley Road Playing Field Campaign, and Walksafe N2.

There will also be a local business table – for local businesses to display leaflets and information about what they have to offer the local community. Ideally any promotional leaflets need to be dropped off to the centre by Friday mid-day.

2,000 leaflets advertising the event are in the process of being delivered locally, with many local shops being asked to display them in their windows.

Mark said “Last year over 300 people attended the event and we are hoping that a lot more people will come along this year. What we are trying to do is create opportunities for local people – promoting local education, employment and volunteering opportunities as well as giving local organisations an opportunity to promote the good work that they are doing. It’s a great opportunity for local people to connect with what is going on and I am sure that there will be plenty of local networking going on.”
